I built a litter box to hopefully help control the amount of dust the cats spread everywhere. Carrie saw this one online and wanted something similar:
First I roughed out a cabinet, which was easy:
I wasn't a fan of the horizontal slats across the top in the original, so I cut a million holes in this piece of wood to allow ventilation.
Then I covered up all the raw plywood edges with wood strips. Clamps!
I used my baby router to cut slots into this piece. In theory the litter will fall off into the cabinet as they leave and reduce the amount that makes it to the floor.
Check out these sweet legs! They turned out pretty well.
Here it is almost complete. I need to sand it some more and then apply a finish.
Here it is in the house. The cats avoided it for a few days, but it's back to being their favorite litter box. The amount of dust on the floor definitely isn't zero, but it's much better than it used to be.
