I built three separate built-ins for our entryway to help with organization. First up was a shoe bench, which is basically just a series of boxes.

Here it is all finished up and installed in the house. It's nice to have a place to sit while putting shoes on and also have shoes right by the door.

Next I built an overhead cubby with coat hooks. We've been using one from Ikea for the past 15 years, and this one is very similar. A little bigger, but generally the same.

Here it is all sanded up and ready for installation.

Next I built a cabinet to store our ski boots, gloves, backpacks, and other odds & ends.

Did you know that Ferrari makes cabinet hinges? Me either.

Here's a shot with everything installed. Just need to finish the trim at the bottom and attach the tops to wrap it up.

Here's the final product. Turned out really well, if I do say so myself.

Update: I added a drawer underneath the cabinet. First I made the drawer itself.

Then I made the drawer front.

I used a clamp to temporarily hold the drawer front in place while I drove a few screws in from behind.

Here it is all finished.

I wanted a drawer to hold all our winter gloves and hats so they don't go missing now that the weather is warmer.
