I made a bench this weekend for the cats to sleep on. The house we moved into in Albuquerque has a window at the top of the stairs that's not good for much, so we decided to put something there for the cats to hopefully sleep on and leave Carrie alone while she works. I didn't take that many pictures, but here are the ones I did take.

Here's a shot of the legs that show how the side rails attach. I decided to put the short rails on the inside of the leg and the long rails on the outside to simplify the cuts I needed to make.

Here's with the long side rails attached. The joinery is very sturdy.

Here's with the top cut and screwed into place.

It's going to live under this window on the landing at the top of the stairs. The window doesn't get a ton of sunlight, but hopefully they'll sleep there sometimes. Oliver likes to wait impatiently for the automatic feeders to go off, so maybe he can hang out on top of it instead of on the floor.

It seemed like it needed some color, so I rubbed some tinted danish oil into it last night, and now it looks a ton better.
