Eating really is one of the truly full-sensory experiences. If you had asked me yesterday, I would have said that food was primarily about taste, but I don't think that's really the case. I never thought about it too much before, but from the appearance and smell of the food, to the satisfying crunch of a chip or the pleasant squish of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, food goes way beyond the just the flavor. A rose by any other name may smell as sweet, but an apple without the crispness is rarely worth eating.
